Strumming from the Soul

Just completed my work on the class blog for Learning Fest. Darn, I'm doing all the work getting it together. Guess that's what happens when the class is doing magic and you're the only one teaching and hyped up to get things done.

There's a long list of things I have to do tomorrow: Go to the National Library to get my PW resources, get the cards for the whole class AND go for the st marg's campfire.

I'm just praying to God to give me strength for tomorrow, although if I could get maybe a 2 hour extension on the day wouldn't be so bad. I feel like I'm starring in Rush Hour 4 or something.

Today was fun in many ways. First of all were the girls camwhoring the whole day, and they took a picture of me playing the guitar. Ikhwan brought it to school and all the guys were playing it in turns after maths, singing songs together and everything. Or as Mr Adi now calls us, the "Poser Guitarist Gang", which according to him is the most despised group of people in SA.

Too bad. Hahaha. Then there was physics where everyone was high. The girls were laughing like crap after Mr Yuen completed the lesson early and they were camwhoring. Xuan Ying drew some cartoon version of Mr Yuen, which drew a lot of attention.

Went straight home after that, and I finally accomplished my goal of actually going to BPP to buy Mee Sua after school.

On a more reflective note, the past week has really been a lesson for me. Basically, the tension at home has been boiling over as my parents are unhappy with me staying late in school and spending my pocket on dinner when it's already cooked at home. Then my mum just gave me $5 one night without any warning or a single word.

Being the rebellious son I am, I basically shut myself in my room and blasted Linkin Park to annoy the whole family. Then another night my dad asked me about my MSA results and when I said I got 3 Es, I just got a "That's quite bad" comment from him and mum changed the TV channels without asking me if that was okay. That really pissed me off and again, Linkin Park was blasting off my radio in no time.

So yesterday, I was very tempted to stay later than usual, just to piss my parents off, but I felt a tug at my heart that told me not to. I guess God was speaking to me and asking to forgive my parents and not be so petty even if they have been treating me like a kid and not a 17 year old.

That night was really a turning point cause mum bought BK on her way home for us, and since then the tensions have gone, or at least until I start staying late in school or get a girlfriend or something similar that generation gaps like to cause frictions about.

Another time God spoke to me was during Morning Worship on Wednesday. I had been contemplating joining Saints for Christ for some time now, and I guess the announcements that day just did it for me. I felt God pushing me in that direction and I don't regret for a moment going.

I guess God does keep His promises to us, if it takes a little time before we see it. I'm starting to change parts of my life I've always wanted to improve but never had the wilpower to follow through on, so I'll give thanks to the Lord for blessing me with the courage to finally do so. Although changing all my flaws will take some time and a lot more effort on my part.

But that's a leap of faith I'm willing to take.

Got back Phy MSA results today. I failed thanks to that stupid question on fractional and absolute errors, to which I gave 3 and 2 sig figs when it's supposed to be 2 and 1 sig fig. Argh.

Not to mention the weird vector and kinematics question which totally caught me off guard.

No point brooding on what's past, I guess right now I'll just have to learn from my mistakes and move on, and pray to God that I'll be able to adapt to JC style of tackling questions quickly.

Today's ME lesson was crazy fun! We were supposed to write down our talents and qualities and the guys wrote guitar, so Mr Adi brought a guitar and made us play to prove we really could play. Then he played some love song he wrote for this girl in the past and it was really emo, then someone guessed that he wrote for a girl who was attached. Turns out he was pretty on target with his guess.

Then Melle, Jack, Kai Ye and Rav went out to sing some chinese song. Rav couldn't sing but he could play the guitar. The other 3 sang, but I'll let the videos prove it! It's on facebook. There's one of Leslie and Min Zhen's fail attempt at the school hymn.

For all those people complaining about the font, I've changed it! :)

Just a quick update on the past week.

Sunday

Today's cell time was replaced with tenet class, where we learnt about friendship; specifically, how to be Godly friends and learning to rebuke our friends in love so they can mend their ways.

I guess it was really a huge step for me, I usually close an eye to my friends' misdeeds, although I know what they're doing is wrong. I'm just making it my resolution now to try to speak up a little more and stand for my values and beliefs and be brave enough to correct my friends when they stray off the path.

After that was service, where Pastor Andy talked about suffering and hardship, and how it is important for us to face the trials and tribulations in our lives so as to build our character and peseverance, that we cannot mature unless we allow peseverance to finish its work.

It really touched a part of me, a guy who doesn't usually like to put myself in a tough situation, where I will actively seek the easiest way out of my problems and at times, avoid them completely. I guess God wants me to step up and not be afraid of what the enemy throws at me, to know that suffering builds peseverance; peseverance, character; and character, hope. This is all the more important now in JC where work is really starting to pile up and whatever break times I have now are being used to clear as much of my tutorials as possible.

After that we had lunch at the Meeting Place before Joel's water baptism. We didn't want to lose out to the adult cells who brought whistles and shakers, so we stood on the chairs and cheered when it was Joel's turn. There were some really powerful testimonies.

Today!

So today was a typical day in school, although we did get a shock when we learned we were going to do NAPFA this week instead of next week. Although I couldn't really run cause my knee was kind of stiff. Not that I would pass the 2.4 with my current stamina anyway. But I am starting training and hopefully I can clinch a silver by this year or the next.

Pull ups still remain a distant dream for me =/

Went to eat at Mac's with the OG. Shared some stupid jokes and went to Broadway so Ben Tan could eat. Sat at a table with sam(antha), ko, dom and ben lim. I napped for a while, or as much as I could while Jocelyn was sms-ing me, haha. Then I went home at 7. 966 takes a really long time to arrive at the bus stop!

Saw Wee Meng on the bus, and chatted with him when we got off. Told him that the scouts need only bring their full u once a month and PLTC/UTC was reduced to 4 days and he shared my opinion that was totally slacking off and losing our pride in the unit.

Although, not my place to judge that decision. I guess whether our belief that it will make our scouts less proud of their unit will be proven or disproven in time to come.

Went to ECP with the OG today.

The girls and Vito went rollerblading while the guys were cycling. Li Lian kept falling and Sam(antha) got the hang of it after a while. Then we headed to the other end of ECP to have drinks and rest before returning our bicycles.

It rained when we arrived and Dom, Sam(antha), Li Lian and Vito were caught in the rain cause we went ahead to avoid being late and getting charged extra. We waited out the rain at the Inline Skates rental shop and left for Parkway when the rain was lighter.

Sam got a new pair of slippers (cos I accidentally stepped on hers and caused it to break on the way to ECP). Then she and dom left while the rest of us went to eat at Banquet. Jing Li joined us there, although she already ate.

We wasted time after that, then headed to starbucks to continue our stupid number guessing game, with the stupid forfeits. I had to go get toilet paper from the toilet and throw away trash. Only forfeit I had to do :)

Then we went to mac's to watch me eat! Hahaha. I had to grab a bite before going home and it wasn't very early already, so I left after that. The rest headed to the hawker centre to eat.

I only realised 966 goes to parkway parade, so in the end I had a direct bus back to Bukit Panjang, the ride lasting about an hour. Reached home and 8.15 and rotted up to now xD

Meeting the class tomorrow for lunch at City Hall. Most of the girls aren't coming, which is expected.

Time flies when you least want it to.

The 1 week break is seriously too short to really enjoy any of it. We wasted 2 days in school!

Anyway, enough bitching, there's been some fun in the past few days too!

Tuesday

Ended up not going for econs lecture, though I did study econs with sam, rena and ben. Although we were studying Price Elasticity of Demand and not going through the MSA answers xD

I left to teach the "class" magic, since that's what we were doing for learning fest. Unfortunately, only 8 people came and I only taught them 3 tricks. Really unproductive. I had planned to show them tricks off this DVD but we didn't have a laptop to play it on (cause Mr Adi didn't come with us at the last minute.) Of course, when two thirds of the class doesn't show up, it basically takes away any enthusiasm I had of doing magic for learning fest.

Not my loss, that's all I can say to that!

We all left after that cause it was just stupid to try teaching tricks to a small group when everyone else is MIA (or more likely, going out to have fun instead). I met Rena, Ben, KO and Sam at the MRT station and we went to PS to eat. Sam-an-tha joined us there and we left to play arcade after that. Played the drums, daytona racing and basketball and left after that.

Then we sat at Starbucks, playing the hand-numbers game. The forfeits were really dumb. I had to run to mac's to get pepper, go to carrefour to get water from the dispenser, Sam-an-tha had to get 6 straws, eat the pepper I got from mac's, get mayo from BK and chilli from LJS. Those were just the funnier ones we did.

This is the kind of really retarded crap that makes my day :)

PMS - Post MSA Syndrome

It's been a busy couple of weeks, not to mention sleep deprived. The MSAs were manageable, I guess. Maths and econs weren't so bad, although I'm not sure of my results. Physics and Chem were totally screwed. Lack of time.

And to compound problems I have to show it to my parents

Tensions at home have really been boiling over. My mum has been getting on my back about staying so late in school and using my pocket money quickly. But seriously, who the hell can survive on $50 a week? That includes saturday and sundays when I have to buy my meals and GOING OUT with my friends. Like seriously, it's not possible.

When she gives me the reason that with the recession and everything, we need to cut back our expenses but she's the one going for facials and to malaysia to shop while I'm the one who has to watch my expenditure. What the hell?
